Noob in linux, Need help doing CEX to DEX....

I have been reading all the CEX to DEX posts, In regards to the actually steps I am bit confused. My console is a Slim Model # CECH-2501B, I have 3.55 kmeaw installed now on it. I have taken the time to back up everything that was on my HDD, So if it needs to be formatted I am prepared. I have never installed linux on it, So that process would be new to me. If someone would be willing to walk me through dumping the NOR and Getting the per-console key?

Linux

I would also be very grateful for a more detailed step by step guide for doing this, I have a 40gig Phat PS3

i second this, but with the use of red ribbon. in ps3devwiki it says metldrpwn works with rr rc5. but how?? nor i can get the other scripts to install debian or ubuntu to work. this linux image from metldr tutorial neither works. it gets stucked and freezes at partition scanning.

here I posted this in another thread.....
Here is what I did to test the c2d.exe

Install Visual studio C++ redistribution and Openssl-Win32. OpensslWin32 in C: but kept getting warning that it was not found so I renamed the Openssl-Win32 to just Openssl and all seems to have went fine.

I had this done a little while ago so I had all the needed files and have a dex.bin to md5 against and the two check out. So the my original conversion dex.bin and the one that the c2d.exe made have matching md5 checksums.

To me this is good news and I believe that this will work!

So yes you will need linux to dump metldr. Once you have metldr you need to copy the key from it.

I would suggest some reading!
http://wiki.gitbrew.org/wikibrew/PS3:OtherOS%2B%2B
then
http://wiki.gitbrew.org/wikibrew/PS3:Linux#Debian
you will need the SS patch for ps3dm,sm, and other ps3 dev tools. So see:
http://wiki.gitbrew.org/wikibrew/PS3:Tools
and finally
http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Dumping_Metldr

Remember to thank graf who got us linux back and all the great crew at gitbrew for maintaining it after!

A personal thanks to all who have worked hard and released all this great info!

I am looking into just using petitboot or building a new petitboot with the ps3dm utils and all that is needed and writing a script to make the metldr pwn a more simple process.

please read the above links to get a start!
good luck!
