your ps3 if i remember correctly came with FW 4.0 at its launch meaning you cannot hack it yet. the console must have been on 3.55 or lower when it was at the factory. attempting to downgrade lower than factory version will brick.

Your model can't be hacked... ever?! That's got to stink, unless it's just not able to be hacked because of firmware issues.

take a look here
find your model in the list and it will say about it
you can find your model on the back on the ps3
e.g CECH-3000 is my model and came with 3.60 from factory meaning that is the lowest i can go whereas to have cfw we need to be on 3.55
