I am sorry to bother, but what's "dex" mean?
I am new in the PS3. Can someone please explain to me what this whole Cex and Dex thing is? i am on firmware 3.55 rebug.:dontknow:
|
Dex is developer firmware cex is standard user or retail firmware. Debug for dex and rebug for cex. That's as much as I know about it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The ps3 you purchase from Wal-mart or anywhere else for that matter are retail units or Cex units..........Ps3's used by developers are called Dex units. The reason you are seeing so many posts about Dex this and Dex that is that very recently various methods to convert Cex (Retail) units to Dex (Developer) units were posted and a couple handful of the members here now have Dex machines. Before you get ambitious and want to convert your system you should READ everything.............and then READ IT AGAIN before proceeding.

CEX = retail firmware
MFW/CFW = modified or custom firmware (aka rebug/kmeaw/rogero etc) DEX = debug firmware SEX = Kiosk firmware I wont bore you with the rest. Check the wiki for more info : http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/SKU_Models DEX can play all games up to 4.21 with mmDM/PS3Gen/GENGP3 (3.55) MFW/CFW can play all games up to 3.60 and most TB cracked games (with Duplex/N0DRM patches or the 3.60 leaked keys.) CEX can play retail games and play online with PSN/SEN.. obviously. SEX (the firmware, not the act of ;) ) is a waste of space, do not even give it the time of day. |

mmDm does NOT support 4.21 games, it only supports the playing of 3.55 (patched or not) games on 4.21 dex. |

Maybe I should have worded it better. |
