(help) 2.80 demo mode
I just got a chechg01 and it is in 2.80 demo mode. Does anyone know what I can do to get it working? Also, there is a sticker on the top at says no laser. I have a couple checha01 drive laying around. I wonder if they are interchangeable. Thanks for any info.

Make a modded firmware with the the no BD drive option on and make it change the Firmware from shop to retail, Then update use fsm to remarry the other BD drive to it then update to any CFW.

I'm not even sure if this one is messed up. I opened up the console and it it wasn't even plugged in. I plugged it in and It won't except discs at all. This may be a feature of the demo mode, because most things say not available in demo mode when I click on them. Can I update from demo mode to ofw? Or how should I proceed with not knowing if this drives good or not? Should I try and go to ofw and if it doesn't work because it detects the bd drive being messed up or not there, then go with a mfw? Thanks for the input

************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* Just did some research and it looks like I have to put in a code to unlock it everytime I turn it on. I guess there is no way to make this demo unit a real retail ps3? ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* It has a red sticker in the bottom that is scratched off but says something then use only. I think it may have said for display use only or something like that. I guess this is a store display model and not just a console on demo mode. Any help would be appreciated. @DEFAULTDNB can you edit the name of this thread to help demo console 2.80? |

chill out man. I did read what you posted. I was just adding some more information. This isn't some console that I put into kiosk or demo mode. This is a demo console. I was reading some information for myself which everyone on this site wants you to do, and I came across some conflicting information, like maybe this unit can never be like retail because it was made with display model in mind? I'm not some hood who just avoided peoples posts and waits till I hear what I want to hear. Did you read what I posted? I found out the blue ray drive wasn't even plugged in. I plugged it in and it still doesn't take disks. Wasn't sure if this was just part of demo mode or if it is a bad drive. Sorry to offend you man. Thanks for the input and sorry I asked.
************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* I try to help people as much as I can and I try not to get on people's nerves or ask to many questions. I apologize for coming off as some noob that doesn't accept the advice someone has given me. I was just being thorough with my info. ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* Thanks for the link. I have never modified a firmware, so I will have to read up on how to do that. |

You basically just take an 3.55 or under OFW and use the MFW Builder tool, by checking what features you want, to modify and then hit 'execute' and the tool does everything else for you. Please post back after you try that method and let us know how it went as I am curious on full SEX to CEX conversion using the MFW builder or any other method really. |

Thats why I said to Make a MFW so the BD drive does not need to be connected. It is very easy just get MFW builder. ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* Quote:

Oh yeah, and do I need to use 2.80 ofw to make a mfw or can I use 3.55 since that is where I want to go anyway.
************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* And how can I check to see if the blue ray drive is ok without the risk of bricking? |
