Bluray drive Logic board matching

Hello Everyone,

I recently bought a ps3 with a bad bluray drive, it has been opened before and more than half the screws are missing from the drive and the case looks like its been through a battle plus the drive sensor is missing to top it all off.

Since there's so much changed my concern is if the drives logic board actually goes with the motherboard or not?

So my question is, Is there anyway i can test this without buying a working bluray drive? i reconnected all the parts and pushed the laser upwards and it does move back into position and it ejects and accepts disks but that's it...no lights from the laser and the disk doesn't spin.

Model is a CECHA01 and the logic board in question is an A3

thanks for the help ahead of time :)

Mark Webber wrote a nice little breakdown:

If you have an unmarried board but working drive you will get:

Disc can be inserted/ejected
If a disc is inserted the disc icon will just spin
An audio cd will eventually be detected but not able to be played
Black screen when trying to launch anything from the XMB
Can upgrade/downgrade firmware (it only checks a board is attached, not that it is married up)

If you have a dead/dodgy board/cable/drive you will get:
No way to load/eject a disc
No way to downgrade without a bypass firmware
Black screen when trying to launch anything from the XMB

If you have a married board, but dead laser you will get:
The ability to play/install homebrew
Can play anything installed on the HDD providing it does not require a disc to be inserted (discless booting)
Can upgrade/downgrade as normal per the guides

So if i can play a hard drive game it outta be married then?

That's right, if you can launch any application from XMB then it's married.

you have to be on CFW to remarry a drive, you should add your ps3 model number in the post.

I've got the same problem. The Remarry Bluray Drive Wiki seems to have all deadlinks. All the google searches seem to have bad links too. Any idea as to where to find the manufacturing_updater_for_reset.self, fdm_spu_module.self, PS3UPDAT.PUP and cfg/standalone.cfg file? Or is there another way of doing a re-marry.

I'm up to page 32 with the thread you referd to and so far remarry was mentioned 2 times with little to no detail. And yes I done a search on this site and found 12 threads that contain remarry. I was hoping someone with knowledge of the process would be kind enought to help with specifics or help point me in a helpful direction, not Flame me.

I don't know what thread you are talking about. I linked you the files you need. I wasn't flaming, I helped you. Sorry for the sarcasm in the process. But all you did was say the links to the files were dead. So I gave them to you. LOL.

Now with those files. Follow this guide. ;)
In case you didn't see the link to the files they are here.
