Are the newest consoles jailbreakable?

I am thinking of buying a PS3 120GB Slim. (PAL, I guess. I don't really know if it matters.)

My question is, are the newest consoles jailbreakable? I have no idea which firmware versions are downgradeable and which aren't.

Thanks

hello @kolcalar welcome.

Thank you, @hellsing9
That was really helpful. The page shows a detailed lists of console models.

Since all of the 120GB versions are in the downgradeable zone, I believe I am in the safe zone. I think I'll buy that. I hope jailbreaking is not as hard as it sounds.

Don't forget that if it is a 3k model it cannot be downgraded, even if it's 120GB version.

Edit: My bad, seems that they're only 160Gb and 320Gb...

Now I'm confused. In that list, only available 3K models are 160GB and 320GB.

Edit: No problems!

Remember that if you buy the ps3 new, then yes, you can jailbreak it. If you buy it used, there is a possibility that the ps3 is updated to a higher firmware.

Basically it depends on the manufacture date.

The 120GB should be old stock with a max of 3.50 on board ... = .... JOY!

EDIT:

Excatly as @jdtamimi said, if its mint your are good to go, if you buy preowned, you might be out of luck :(

Yes, I am going to buy a new one. I have two more questions, though. I'd hate to open a new thread and cause pollution.

First, let's say I jailbroke my console and it's 3.55. Can I still buy a game and play it online without any problems?

Second, is jailbreaking permanent? Can I revirginize it later on? (I'm sure I've seen something about unjailbreaking before, but I'm not sure how many times you can do that procedure.)

Thanks, @DEFAULTDNB @jdtamimi @benzinjiq @hellsing9

No, your PS3 would be 3.55 based, and new games require update keys (up to 4.2x) and PSN requires new pass phrases. You would need 4.2x keys and latest passphrase to play new disc games online which is NOT happening any time soon.

No, its not permanent, you can revert by installing OFW 3.55 through recovery mode. You can revert and reinstall as many times as you like.

Thanks, @DEFAULTDNB @jdtamimi @benzinjiq @hellsing9

Hope this helps.

Look at the CECH code (on a sticker on the bottom of your PS3), that gives more info as the HDD size....

It is possible someone changed to HDD to a lower size or something to keep the bigger one for another (maybe jailbroken) PS3... So a CECH-3000 series can have a 120 Gb HDD inside in stead of the original 160/320 Gb...
