Help!! Blu ray board Marrying
 

I just bought 2 ps3's.. one is a 3.55 ofw that now is running 3.55 kmeaw and the other is 3.42 ofw.. problem with both is i believe both pcb boards were just throw in there at random to get rid of em and listed as laser doesnt work. when i opened em up and changed the laser i wasnt getting any movement from the gears and the laser wasnt lighting up so i just kept swapping boards till something moved.. i had many 400a and 410 laser boards that i was able to match with the 3.55 and 3.42 to get the laser spinning but it wont read a disc the clock just goes and goes.. is there anyway besides downgrading to get these boards married so they will read discs or a patch i can upload? Any help would be great

You can remarry on 3.55. I just did one yesterday. Download the 3.55 remarry files from ps3devwiki and follow the guide. Basically you will download those files and a 3.30 ofw as an init pup. Then you will put the ps3 into fsm, and let it run the files. Then after it is done, you will play a blue ray movie to restore the keys, then you will exit fsm.

For the 3.42 one, I recommend you going to 3.55 noBdnoBt pup and then do the remmary process. You can do it from 3.50 but I couldn't ever get it to work. Ask questions here if you are unsure about anything.

so do i put the pup file and the unrar'ed remarry files in a PS3 /update folder or just the pup file or neither? will it automaticly start reading it or will i have to select system update? Thanks for your quick reply!

it says put in a blu ray disc and i dont have one will a ps3 game work?

@jpinjpin Here are the steps for the ps3 on 3.55. 1. Download the 3.55 remarry files from ps3devwiki. Extract them to the root of a USB. 2. Download ofw 3.30 as an init pup from ps3devwiki. Put it on the Root of the USB with the other files. 3. Put the ps3 in fsm with a fsm dongle or compatible device in the furthest right USB port. The ps3 will turn off automatically. 4. Take the fsm dongle out and put the USB with the remarry and 3.30ofw file on it in the right USB port. Turn ps3 on. It will start process. After it is done, it may shut itself off. If it does, don't panic. Turn the ps3 back on. It should boot up and still be in fsm. Now you must play a blue ray movie. It HAS to be a blue ray movie or you won't restore the keys for blueray playback. Once you play a blue ray movie for a few minutes, then you can turn the ps3 off. Put the lvl2diag fsm exit file on a USB and turn the ps3 back on. Should exit fsm. Success!

Follow the same steps for the other console that is on 3.42 except before doing the steps, download 3.55noBDnoBT pup from ps3devwiki and install it. Afterwards you will be on that 3.55 firmware and you can do the same steps as above.

stupid question but i where do i get a fsm dongle or compatible device as stated in step 3

Depends on where you are located. You can buy one like e3 card reader, or ps3key, or there are some other devices such as some iPhones and psp on a certain firmware or certain models of TI calculators. Search ps3devwiki or google ps3 fsm dongle. I use e3 card reader and it works well. Someone else told me the ps3key works good and is like $5 cheaper than the e3 card reader.

Yes. It is called e3 card reader downgrade.bin, not to be confused with e3 downgrade.bin . You can find it on e3 website. If you can't let me know and I will upload it for you. You will put the e3 card reader in your computer and it will pop up 2 folders. One will say e3 upgrader. Drag and drop the e3 card reader downgrade.bin file onto the upgrader folder and the red light on the card reader will turn blue.
