New fix for Resident Evil 6 [DEX]

In last couple of days i have been trying to get Resident Evil 6 to work on my DEX 4.21 setup.
I have a PS3 slim chech 2004B 250gb console and am running:

1 DEX 3.55 peek and poke for my 3.55 backups through Multiman DEX 4.06.2
2 DEX 4.21 for newest games and am using 32gb usb sticks

In earlier posts i stated that copying the trophy file from the original game folder to the installed patch would fix the game but it doesn't!! After 4 chapters i got the dreaded "Failed to access resident evil 6 game data. quit and delete resident evil 6 game data".

Yesterday i read that people who BOUGHT the digital copy from the psstore and were playing it on a fully updated console were having the same issues with the game after applying update 1.01. Solution for them was to remove the update and game, and re-install the game. So the original game is good to play, it's the update that's buggy.

So after brainstorming a little i pondered on making a .pkg fix but removing the files that were buggy. Now after extracting the update and looking at it, i found that the update only contained:
ICON0.PNG
PIC1.PNG
ps3logo.dat
param.sfo
USRDIR folder:
- eboot.bin
- nativePS3: - UPDATE folder: - mes_update_eng.gmd + 7 simmilar files for other languages

The only files i could remove, was the nativePS3 folder because everything else is always necesary to make a .pkg. ( 99% sure )
This actually worked, and is still working for me. I've started different storylines with different characters, played the mercenaries extra content and saved/resaved and collected trophys. The game keeps working!

So i built the .pkg with this tutorial:

http://www.ps3hax.net/2012/07/tutori...up-on-dex-3-6/

1 get the game update with ps3game updater
2 extract the update and remove the nativePS3 folder from USRDIR
3 build the.pkg with the psn_package_npdrm method through cmd window
4 install the .pkg on ps3 and unicorns

MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE ALL OLD .PKG DATA/TROPHYS/SAVES TO MAKE SURE

But for those who just want to have a copy of mine:

Happy Zombie hunting!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

I've tried the same "empty" .pkg install on other games and is also working on them.
Even stranger was that the Darksiders 2 update only contained some icons and a eboot, so i didn't have to remove anything to test my theory.
For NFS the run it's a different story. The update was 256mb so i had to remove a lot of files. The game wouldn't even start after installing the empty .pkg i made, so i'm stumped.

Hm, Ive played through the Leon campaign, without any of this, only converted with ps3gen an copied the 1.01 update. No problem so far. Could you share at what point exactly does this error? I mean after which chapter/character, so I could see if I have been through it. :)

I've encountered this error at different points in the game but usually when the save file and trophy registration begins.

End of the sewers with Leon

Starting Mercenaries on extra content
Trying to start a chapter with Jake

And more

did you copy the update to the ps3 DEV_HDD0 GAME folder through Multiman or just install a .pkg?

I'm back to cool calm and collected whispering again....

Could you explain how you copied the update?

Well, actually DL'd the update with PS3 Game Updater 1.41 like usual and used ASTools 3.1 to make the update debug. That's all I did for the update. For the game - just used ps3gen, nothing more, no problems so far. Before I tried to make a gp3 file with genGP3, but the game had no voice ingame (only subtitles), so I did it again. That's pretty much it. :)

Damn so i might just be using the wrong tool? I had Aldo's tools but the tut and matching software i had, worked like a charm on every other game......
I'm confused but i'm making a debug .pkg with contentid now to test if it makes the whole 1.01 update run on my ps3.
I'll get back to you with my findings

Well, I usually use "PkgView 1.3" to extract the update and then "psn_package_npdrm" to repack it debug, but lately I'm kinda lazy and in my laziness I found that ASToolPS3 3.1 makes the job done very easy, because you just have to select the retail update, hit a button and it automaticly spits a debug update in a matter of seconds.
