Going back to 3.55 from Rogero 4.21 CFW dehash question
 

Quick question about dehashing when going back to 3.55 from 4.21 CFW. Is it necessary to dehash if the console has never been downgraded before? The console has never been above 3.55 until the 4.21 CFW.

- Downgrading back to 3.55 is always possible using the following steps :
- Download the 4.25 downgrader PUP ---> 4.25 Downgrader Size 176MB (184,595,263 bytes) MD5: 49d80e07fc1f5ca1b0840e02e94635db
- Rename the downloaded file to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" and put it on your USB in: "USB\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP"
- While on Rogero CFW4.21, go to System Update from XMB and install the 4.25 downgrader CFW.
- Once installed, now put "Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7" on your USB in: "USB\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP" ---> Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7.PUP
- Start the PS3 into Recovery Menu (or use Condor Updater for Slim consoles) and install "Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7" (from Recovery Menu, this is important)
- Once the install is finished, you're now back on Rogero CFW3.55 v3.7 ( from here it's better to dehash again before installing any other OFW/CFW 3.55 )

The part in red is what I'm curious about once back on 3.55 v3.7 and wanting to go to 3.55 OFW/other 3.55 CFW on a console never downgraded before.

qa flag , do the key combo and reinstall 3.55 OFW via Recovery mode. Then proceed as normal.

I didn't wait for an answer i just went ahead and gave it a try lol.

This is what I did to go from Rogero 4.21 CFW back to 3.55 Kmeaw. I only did this for the experience and to confirm it for myself that no flasher is needed. Plus I have a few ps3's on 3.55 so losing one wouldn't have been a big deal.

- Install Toggle QA (unless Toggle QA was already installed while on 3.55)
- Put the 4.25 downgrader on your USB in: "USB\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP"
- While on Rogero CFW 4.21, go to System Update from XMB and install the 4.25 downgrader CFW.
- Once installed, run Toggle QA. It will (should) beep 3 times and return to XMB. Confirm it's flagged by going to network settings icon and press L1 + L2 + L3 (press left stick) + R1 + R2 + dpad_down at the same time. If no other icons appear below network settings it is not flagged. If that's the case, run Toggle QA again and check it again.
- Now put "Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7" on your USB in: "USB\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP" ---> Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7.PUP
- Start the PS3 into Recovery Menu (or use Condor Updater for Slim consoles) and install "Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7" (from Recovery Menu, this is important)
- Once the install is finished, you're now back on Rogero CFW3.55 v3.7
- Now put 3.55 OFW on your USB in: "USB\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP"
- Start the PS3 into Recovery Menu and install 3.55 OFW
- Now put 3.55 Kmeaw on your USB in: "USB\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP"
- Start the PS3 into Recovery Menu and install 3.55 Kmeaw

Back on 3.55 Kmeaw.

It's a good idea to confirm it's still flagged between firmwares after you install them.

Again, these where the steps I took to get back to 3.55 Kmeaw.

Edit 10/26: These steps are correct for getting back to Kmeaw from 4.21 cfw. I've done it this way multiple times on a slim and phat with no issues. Note: when I downgraded from 4.21 cfw v1.00 to install v1.09, i only went down to Rogero CFW3.55 v3.7 then to 4.21 CFW v1.09.

Guys someone smart confirm that we MUST run twice Toggle QA after when we are on DOWNGRADED 4.25 CFW and second when we are on Rogero CFW3.55 v3.7 ? That run again TQA is Dehasing console ? And no needed combo button for proper dehash ?

I was hoping someone would answer that was well. I may have toggled it off for all I know. That's why i stated "This is what I did to go from Rogero 4.21 CFW back to 3.55 Kmeaw".

I may just do it all over again to be sure.

And BTW, I only ran it once on downgraded 4.25 CFW. As I mentioned, it would NOT detect Rogero CFW3.55 v3.7 in the usb drive until I QA flagged it while on downgraded 4.25. I did, however, run it again while on Rogero CFW3.55 v3.7 before installing OFW 3.55. Though i never did the button combo to be sure.

In the end it did work for me.

toggle qa flag doesn't work on 4.21cfw, does it? It is not signed for 4.21.

You don't have to do the button combo. But I always do it, just to check if I am toggling QA on or off.

There are many threads already with how to downgrade.

1. Install 4.25 to 3.55 PUP from recovery menu.
2. Install 3.55 checkoff PUP (which is Rogero v3.7) from the XMB. If it errors, install from recovery.
3. Toggle qa flag ON. Check that you indeed toggle it ON with the button combo.
4. Install OFW 3.55 from recovery menu.
5. Install Kmeaw from XMB. If it errors install from recovery menu.
6. Toggle qa flag OFF. Check that you indeed toggle it OFF with the button combo.

Step 6. is not needed. But there is no reason to have QA Flag toggled ON, unless you are doing something that needs it.

Like I said, doing the button combo is not needed. The 3 beeps by the PS3 lets you know that you toggled it. But I always check to make sure, which way I toggled it.
If you think you toggled it ON, and it was actually OFF. Then you install OFW 3.55 with it OFF, you will brick.

No, but it does work on the 4.25 downgraded firmware. Thanks for the info btw and after doing it all over again, I believe i toggled it off before going to OFW.

As mentioned i redid it again. I toggled QA flag OFF and installed 4.21 CFW from 3.55 Kmeaw to be sure It was as it was when I installed it the first time. I once again had to run toggle QA to flag it before it would recognize Rogero CFW 3.55 v3.7. After that was installed I checked to see if it was still flagged and it was so I proceded as normal to OFW then back to Kmeaw.

So, is it safe to assume that as long as you confirm that it's flagged on the 4.25 downgraded firmware you are good to go from there? That is what I did the second time around. No need to run toggle QA again as it toggled it off. I have edited it out above.

Could someone who has successfully downgraded back to 3.55 please give me the MD5 of the Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7.PUP. I just wanna check my files before I do anything.
