I've been floating around here for a while now and decided to register, so hello all!!

So I'm selling my xbox 360 and buying a ps3. From what I understand, I should look for 3.55 as this is the favourite and most used.

I've downloaded the PS3 E3 4.30 CFW and Manager which contains 1 x .pup file and 1 x .pkg file.

Now I've read through itskamel's NOOB JAILBREAK GUIDE here: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=26677

but I'm a little confused at how to proceed so go easy on me guys! I'm a total NOOB.

What exactly should I do next with the above files??

anyway, you don't own a ps3 yet right? , you better look for a version that is hackable and you probably need a hardware flasher aswell. ;)

That's right, I don't have a ps3 today but will have one within the next few days. I know I need to get one that's hackable but that's about all I know right now.

the PS3 E3 4.30 CFW and Manager is no use to you right now, first you need to downgrade to 3.55 but you need a hardware flasher to do that or look if there's a service close to you that will do it for you...

EDIT: if i'm correct then you need to look for a model CECH-251.B or below

I don't need to downgrade. I'm buying a 3.55 ps3 over the next couple of days.

There's a couple of ps3's for sale with 3.55 firmware and MPN:CECH-2003A and MPN:CECH-G03

Is this good?

Make sure with the seller that you are buying from if its 3.55 firmware or what firmware its on, and has it been downgraded before, this is a very important question because if it has been downgraded rehashing is required before updating.

The guy has said it's original firmware...

I still need help with what to do next.

OFW 3.55 ? Then you just need to update from the recovery menu via usb pretty basic stuff. But again keep a hardware flasher handy ;)
