hi i bought a CECHL01 ps3 for real cheap and it has rsod i saw a couple of old post about it but nothing good ..imgoing to start messing with it this week so i was wondering what are all possible known problems making this rsod and how to fix em so if you guys have sites you can link me about this or know anything i would really appreciate the help thanks (/\)

Well I did the exact same thing as you and struck pot luck, got a rsod ps3 on eBay for £35 and applied the 3.55 rsod fix and boom working jb console. Well before you begin I suggest you look for your firmware version. To do this you will need to put your ps3 into the recovery menu, and click the firmware update option. This will ask you to update from a specific version (for eg 3.60). If this is below or on 3.55 your ps3 can be fixed without additional hardware, however if its above that version you will require a hardware flasher(aka e3 flasher).

Here's the link to the 3.55 fix. To use your console must be on 3.55 or lower, just update the console from recovery menu and install the PKG file. Once done you should change your firmware (I suggest going to original 3.55 and then to the latest 4.30cfw) - only use trusted links)

Lastly although this may fix your ps3 there may be an underlying hardware issue (meaning that the rsod may return)although I have the same model and its not returned.

The way the fix works is that the special 3.55 firmware bypasses the rsod, thus allowing the console to boot. Then the pkg file can be installed, this is where the consoles rsod is actually fixed and the v flash region is restored (so bypass, allows for the fix to be applied). Once applied the console should be fully fixed and the firmware changed to remove the bypassing firmware (as using this firmware for a prolonged period of time may cause damage beyond repair).

There is a fix but you need to be on 3.55 to do it. There is a .pkg that can be install from a special pup that bypasses the rsod, like the above poster stated, unless it is hardware related, which in your cause op, it is a 99% chance it is. I have had 4 or 5 chechL01 models that had rsod, and guess how many are fixed completely today....? Zero. This model was the first ps3 to use a Samsung nor and there where "bugs" wi it that didn't get mowed out till later models. There is a bad sector of flash called cvtrm and in this perticular model it has been my experience that it can not be corrected by reflashing, .pkg fix, or the fsm fix. Hope you prove me wrong, but outcome doesn't look good.

@Bigbones87 mine was a Chechl model, its been working since the start of august, and I've used it almost every day. Currently its running 4.21cfw. Is there a possibility the rsod may return ?

I bought an rsod 2504a for euro 25 and took out the hdd, turn it in recovery, hdd back in, turn ps3 off, back to recovery, choose 1 by 1 the solutions and on an moment the ps3 ask for 3.55 and fixed.
Now on rogero 4.30 with a 600hdd extern.

There is always a chance it will return. But if you have been going this long without incident then you should be ok. I wasn't trying to scare anyone or jump to conclusions. I was just giving my experience with these models. I have reflashed a chechL01 and got it stay just fine for about a week or so and then it came back. The other chechL01 models I had always went back to rsod after a short time like hours or days.

Depends what update its on CFW or OFW
Either way you need to get into recovery and see what update it asks for.
If it asks for the 3.55 update or higher get hold of the official 3.55 update pup and install it.

@Eyesenish If you're done fixing RSOD by any softwares like NOTHEROS_RSOD.PUP or FSM and Lv2diag.self method but it still come back,.replace your Samsung NOR to Spancion or newer NOR and flash it using Progskeet.

damn its stuck on 4.21 is there anyways to bring back to life except sending it to sony? with progskeet maybe? or do i absolutly have to buy a e3?
