logic board replacement
 

i need help as i have been all over google looking for my answer. I have a fat ps3 40gb that i have replaced the bluray drive in twice. the bluray laser comes on then the red laser comes on then the cd will spin but no go it fails to read blueray disks. my next mission was to replace the logic board. my question is can i just get a logic board for the exact same make and model of ps3 and swap it without having to re-solder the chip with the hardware keys if so that would be great . its a bmd-002 and i was going to replace it with the exact same make and modle of logic board help is much appriciated thanks

The logic board is paired to the motherboard.
Have a search for bluray remarry etc, on here

what do you mean in terms of paird to the motherboard. does that mean paired by model number of console or serial numbers of console. ive been doing so much searching on these logic boards and i read alot about the re-marry process. but isnt there a way i can just find the exact one without all that trouble... thanks for the reply

The motherboard is linked to the logic board in a way that they talk to one another and if they are not paired they will not work so to speak.
As long as the connectors are the same you can fit different boards but you will still have to re-marry the 2 boards together and you will have to be on 3.55 or below to do this.

Yes and I'd your on above 3.55 you need to downgrade to do so

is it possible to downgrade from 4.31 to 3.55???? thx

if you put a new logic board on your drive the it sort of should match the one you replace. (connector wise)

if it's not married it will work almost completely, in other words, it will read games, eject, insert....it only will not show up on the xmb, when you turn down the ps3 you will hear some beeps.

is changing the logic board as easy as swapping the memory chips? or do the makle ones i dont haAVE TO DO THAT WITH. I DONOT WANT TO GO THROUGH THE WHOLE DOWNGRADE PROCESS SO CAN I JUST CHANGE THE CHIp instead?

can anyone one on here remarry a 60gb 4 usb ps3 bd to my console cheap at all as im having trouble doing it my self thanks
