4.31 Jailbreak (E3 flasher? / Downgrade? / Help)
Hey guys. Like I said in the New Member introduction topic; I am new. Thanks in advance for providing me all this information. Youtube and Google did not really inform me good enough to be honest ;) So I am happy to become part of this forum.
First I tried searching google and youtube but I came across a lot of fake videos. I got to understand that 4.31 is not jailbreakable (yet) For instance videos like this: [Mediafire] PS3 4.31/4.30 Jailbreak - Download & Tutorial - CFW *Update* [PS3UPDAT.PUP] - YouTube I've searched the forum here to check some facts and came across the following: JapSander: Quote:

On this website http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Downg...rdware_flasher I saw that I CAN jailbreak my PS3 so that is good news. This topic also explains something about how to jailbreak your ps3 but I believe this is not applicable with my firmware? http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=13944 So I have to buy a E3 Flasher or something alike? I thought hacking a PS3 was just a matter of preparing a USB-drive and running a program on the PS3. I also saw a video on youtube where somebody did it with his TI calculator (I happen to have one) I am a bit lost in information. Could a get some pointers on how to get on? Hopefully you guys give me a chance to get some help. I know how annoying it is if a noob comes to a forum to ask a bunch of questions. But like I said, I'm a bit stuck in all the information. Read read read :) Its not just a matter of shoving some software on a usb stick. You need to use a hardware flasher such as progskeet/teensy++ for NAND model FAT PS3's or an E3 flasher for NOR, and a FSM dongle. NAND requires soldering, NOR uses a clip. Yours = Quote:

First of all, thanks for doing the research first before asking questions.
It may be easier and cheaper to get someone from this site to do it for you. to do that you will have to post where you are from and see if there is anyone on the site close by that can do it for you |
Thank you for the responses guys. I am currently in the train, but once I am at home I will do some more research.
I am still doubting if I should let someone do it for me or not. I read that the latest CFW's have firmware spoofers so you could play online and so. Does this mean you have to update to CFW every time a new official update comes out to play online? See, if something goes wrong I do not want to be dependent on another person. Best regards, De_Tsaar |
Once you've been flashed to 3.55, the world is your oyster. As long as you don't balls the ps3 up, it shouldn't need to be flashed again.
On cfw you can downgrade without a flasher. |

And well, downgrading needs a compatible console... Which is a console that at some point have been on OFW 3.55 or lower... ie. the factory firmware was 3.55 or lower. The TI-calculator/psjailbreak hack only worked for firmwares up till fw 3.41. It was patched in later firmwares. The firmwares up till 3.41 had a bufferoverflow (...programming mistake) in the code that handled USB hubs, which could be utilized. This was patched in the later firmwares by Sony after it became known. |
