Drive now not pairing to the console ???
My PS3 G03 stopped reading disc so i bought a new KES400A laser (Single lens as was the original) fitted the new laser and i was up and running again.
played a game and tested it on a DVD just to check, all ok as i inserted a disc i did notice the drive sounded a little worn, it would give 5 clicks as if the cogs were skipping or worn. it would eject nice and smooth but i wasnt happy to leave it, wish i did now lol. anyway i have 5 old drives, all with broken lasers and from C03 and G03 consoles. i put the paired circuit board in one drive and it loaded nice and smoothly, fantastic, fitted the new laser into it but now it doesnt read the disc, no blue laser start up, this would indicate the ribbon it not in correctly but it is. ive tested the drive and laser on a second console i have, also a G03 and i works fine so the ribbons are ok. ive even put on a spare board from a broken ps3 and the drive shows the blue laser and does read and spin the disc but as its not the right board it doesnt show in the xmb ive looked at the board under a mag light and cant see any shorts on the ribbon connections dopes anyone know the chip which pairs the board? it is the MX 8 leg chip or maybe the 14 leg JRC located directly behind the laser ribbon port sounds like the board is at fault obviously even though it did work, so could be a dry joint as well any help would be great, thanks for your time |

it depends on the drive model you have, schematics are for BDM-001 and BDM-002.
