PS3 is not made by Sony
http://megagames.com/news/foxconn-ma...-playstation-3
Motherboard PS3 by FOXCONN from COK-001 to BMD-001, chipsets by ASUS, Graphic Chip by Nvidia (RSX/ Mobile Geforce Go 7800 GTX 256 MB GDDR3), Soundchip by ONKYO, Processor by IBM (Cell 7-cores), Memory Ram by HYNIX, HDD by Toshiba and Seagate, NOR/NAND IC by samsung, BD Rom by Pioneer (KEM) BenQ (KES) finally SONY put a sticker "SONY PLAYSTATION 3", and claimed that this was made by SONY. where is Sony's thing in your PS3? softwares, maybe. |

About this *builds* i don't see nothing..bad. |
This is the same as saying that the Mega Drive was manufactured by Motorola and Zylog because the console uses a 68000 and a z80, or that the MAC is made by Intel because the components they used :)

Thinking about this while eating a Big Mac that I thought was made by McDonalds ;)

^ Absolutely.
Ridiculous thread sorry. It's the same for all game consoles. In any case, you're wrong about nvidia making the graphics chip - they designed the graphics chip. TSMC made it. You're also wrong about Pioneer making the BD drive, Pioneer don't make any drives in house anymore, they also wouldn't be responsible for the actual physical assembly and would be more in the design stage. Also wrong about benq. Benq is the brand, it's owned by Lite-on and has been for the past 3-4 years, Benq were just an oem rebadger for most products, I believe optical drives is covered by that, even then, again they are designers. The base chipset on these BD drives is likely produced by MediaTek. If you're going to make a thread like this, get it right :) The important part of a games console is the design, how the parts add up to the whole We're a good 25 years ahead of a time where it was possible for one company to be involved in all parts of design of all components, even then, off the shelf Z80 CPUs would be needed for the 80s products. They were cheap and worked well, are you suggesting Sony builds all it's own components, designs all it's own chips and even has it's own plastics facilities for creating the case of the console? |
Following this "logic" nothing is truly "made" by the brand stamped on the cover. Cars, computers, etc, etc.
|
I didn't write "make or making" but you did that, I just wrote "by" and I saw them (the brands) on my PS3's inside.

IOf sony was able to produce4 all this themselves I'm sure they would buit I know the company doesnt have the facilities or equipment to do so. It would mean a much cheaper much easer to produce product for the consumer but again sony would rape themselves inside out trying to build all the facilities needed to produce there own stuff. hell delta makes more money per ticket than any of there airline competitors without charging more than them... Why? because they produce there own jet fuel. they own all there own upkeep facilities. I'm just saying while the initial investment wouldn't really balance out right away after a few years a game company which is self sufficient will certainly produce a higher profit margin while still offering lower prices then the competitors.

Sony does not make cheap parts.

Why did I bother...
