ps3 3TB external games drive
i have a 3tb external drive formated to Fat32 the ps3 can see the drive and shows it's size approx 2.7tb, but when trying to load games off the drive with multiman, it doesn't show them, but if you use the multiman browser it shows the games,if you try to copy the game to the internal drive it doesn't do anything ?:hmmmm2:
slight correction 3TB drive formated to Fat32 cluster size of 32, i have 2.2TB of games in the GAMEZ folder but Multiman doesn't show any games,if you use Multiman file browser OR comgenie file manager you can see the each game folder, but when trying to copy to the PS3 internal drive it fails,so i'm guessing it that the GAMEZ folder is over 2TB, anyone had the same problem:dontknow: |
Well that sucks.

There is a method to make 3TB drives work on the PS3: http://www.ps3hax.net/showpost.php?p=346377&postcount=8

3TB drives work fine the same as 2TB and below drives with 1 FAT32 partition, just make sure you format the drive with 32KB or 64KB sectors. I chose 64KB just to ease and stress on the file system with the massive number of files that will likely be on the drive. |
this is news to me. so 3tb works just fine without having to split it into differnt partitions? thats awesome.time to upgrade. thanks Baargle

3tb, thats alot of downloading ;)

I have a 3tb external. Works great, 1 fat32 partition. I used the format utility that comes with PS3 multi tools. And selected 65536 allocation unit size.

i thought that 2tb was the limit for FAT32... i have a partitioned 3tb HDD (1.99TB / 700MB), for me its ok, i will not format it again

have more than 2tb of games on the drive
