Worth it to buy a cheap YLOD PS3?

Is it worth buying a YLOD PS3 for like $30-$40? I'm not sure if every YLOD PS3 is fixable or not, can anything ever "permanently" go wrong with em?

YLOD fix isn't permanent, it sounds like you're aware of that.

The issue is that each time you do a YLOD fix, the length of time the fix lasts decreases each time, starting at an average of a month or two then going down to a few hours after a 4-5 fixes. The total time between first fix and a dead PS3 where the fix doesn't work at all is usually about 3-4 months going by various accounts.

It's important you know though that there's a chance that it might not be fixable at all even the first time it gets YLOD, or the 2nd, or the 3rd and so on.

I personally wouldn't touch a YLOD console. Not worth the hassle and not worth the saving considering you could be left with something that is literally worth nothing.

Honestly a YLOD console could last years if you just get it reballed
