Total mind f*ck- ps3 deleted "PS3_GAME" folder from backup
Ok this totally threw me off. I "acquired" Assassin's Creed 3 a week or so ago and have been playing off and on, I go to load the game this morning and I get that annoying 80010017 error.
So I restart the console, same problem- I tried launching from xmb, Mm, select+X, nothing was working. I jump on the file manager in Mm just to make sure everything was there and it all seemed to be fine. One thing that stood out was the EBOOT, ...ps3_f.self, an the Uplay.self file were red- not sure if that means anything or not. At this point I'm thinking maybe something was updated accidentally or idk- so I plug the drive into my computer and there it is. The "PS3_GAME" file in the BLES01667 folder was GONE! I compared file sizes and attributes to make sure it wasn't just hidden. The complete folder was GONE, yet the update and disc files remained, some how the game files had been completely deleted while connected to the PS3. So I retransferred the game files back over to the drive and plugged it back into slot 4 on the PS3- click into Multiman and try the game - no dice, same 80010017 error. I try Select + X in Mm and get this error "ERROR OCCURRED WHILE MOVING GAME TO NEW LOCATION!" I deleted the game data and tried again, same error. I did a quick google search an found a very vague mention of Select + L3 moving game files. I gave this a try, Mm refreshed, I selected AC3, went to xmb and it loaded right up. Has anyone else seen this problem before, and if so, what causes it? (So I know what not to do in the future.) |
The game folder is not deleted. More likely it is in the root of your external hdd. MM does this for some reason and if you exit your game by pulling out the usb cord of your external hdd instead of first going to the xmb by pushing the center ps button and then choosing to quit the game this will sometimes occur.
This has happened to me several times before I figured out why. |
The folder is on the root of you external HDD. MM does this when using BD Mirror but
@deank
tweaked the BD Mirror in his latest update so it won't do that again and keep the PS3_GAME folder in its place. Just update to the latest version of MM and you should never experience this again.

Aww well thank you both, I am running an older version of Mm, it's been about a year since I updated it lol.
I will update right away, thank you again. |

There is a reason why deank includes all them extra packages in every FULL MultiMAN. BD_Reset.pkg ,is to reset your BD mirror in multiman . Run it from XMB after playing a game, using BD from external. 99% of the time it will restore your PS3_GAME folder back to it's original location. To check if your PS3_GAME folder is missing "visually". You can always view your external from XMB video / Music = press triangle choose view everything. It shows folders & can browse through them all. You will see your PS3_GAME folder right there in root. If you see no folders then BD mirror is still in effect & need to reboot or run BD reset to view your external files. I use BD reset always & never, have any problems with multiman. When i did not use it.I had the same thing happen like you. At one time it happened allot & was so annoying ! I had a little lag in my connection in the past that cause this to happen. I switched to a better USB 2.0 wire / external & never again.. |
donglehater is dead right, When you load a game in multiman from your external hdd or internal hdd, multiman takes the game folder out of the BLUS****** or whatever id it is and puts it on the root of the hdd so it can read it easier without having to access loads of other folders.
