Remarry 3.55, Stuck on Executing.

After days on end of trying and trying, I simply cannot get my PS3 (CECHC04) to remarry.

I've tried 3 ribbons and two boards. My final hypothesis is that the logic boards must be bad.

Before I shell out for a new one I'd just like some new opinions.

1. The fw was 3.55 Kmeaw, now is OFW 3.55
2. The drives are the same model (BMD-001)
3. The blue LED lights up
4. I've been using the logic board without drive, but I do have a drive (same results)
5. The PS3 sticks on "Drive Init [Executing]"

if i were you i would measure if there's 5V going to the drive from the mainboard.

the pinout for the 4 wire cable is:

1. black (12V)
2. grey (ground)
3. grey (ground)
4. grey (5V)

EDIT: here's an image you can also verify the voltage at the board itself, just unplug the big ribbon cable, flip the drive over and you will see the points i marked on the right image.

on the left image (other side of the board) i marked 2 parts that can go faulty, if one is you will be missing a voltage point. (5 or 12V)

assuming you have the same board. ;)
and oh yeah, blue led should not be on, and you need an empty drive for the remarry process. :)

@baileyscream , hardware problem...... i just love it.

the drive init freeze is usually where it finds a disc in the drive and it halts while it ejects then it will carry on with the remarry

you also need a drive connected to logic board as there are 2 or 3 micro switches in the drive that tells the logic board if it has a disc in and what position the drive is in (game loaded position. game ejected position. game jamed position (half loaded))
so no drive connected it will think there is a disc in.

also a drive that has a faulty micro switch or a jammed drive or faulty motor will give the blue led (blue led = disc inserted) and so wont let the remarry work.

you need check these drives to see if they do work.
best way stick then in another console (same model) then write on each drive any faults you found.

if you dont do the above suggestions and what @Mr.Dutch has suggested then ou will just go round and round in circles

btw mr.dutch
i'm supprised you havent put @baileyscream as your sig.
that would save your paws from typing my name into all these threads

i thought so too, judging the schematics, but one senior member mentioned in some post he had only a logic board connected, and could play discless...

this confused me. ;)

EDIT: btw i got the NG screen on my drive, when there was a a game inside. (ejecting was not working on that drive)

?? i'm sure even with discless (play a backup from disc icon) needs the ps3 to read the toc of the disc when you first put a disc in or boot the ps3 with a disc in

just having the logic board in will allow homebrew / psn games and backups to play from folder icon in xmb

i am sure this is how it works but the way my head is these last 2 days i could be wrong.:vollkommenauf:

i will check this though :)

if it didnt eject then you will get that as it prevents anything being wrote from disc to ps3.

when i tested what would happen in my slim if i left a movie disc in
then it paused / halted at the drive init point as it ejected the disc.

hmm wonder if its just a movie that gets ejected then and game discs give the NG screen.

i will double check this (i will check bdvd film aswell while i'm at it)

Sorry for the late reply, I ended up buying a third logic board and a new ribbon just in case. Turns out both the boards were dead.

So; new ribbon, new BMD-001, drive attached, and it worked.

Now I'm having black screen issues as the ribbon clip on this board is broken (previous owner). Everything works when I hold the ribbon in place but trying to secure it own it's own is a pain.

Any tips?
