purchase
How are you Wii U owners liking your Wii U? I'm thinking about getting one but I just did some research on it and I'm seeing videos of people complaining about how slow it is. Downloading game demos off the internet takes forever, and pulling up the system menu also takes forever it seems. Do you regret your purchase? Or do the fun games cancel out these negative issues of the Wii U? :dontknow:

The load times (and update times) are crazy long, but the games are dope.
NSMB WiiU was amazingly awesome, ZombiU is hardcore (!!!) and Nintendo land is just pure fun! My only complaint is lack of VC, and lack of "apps" for the control pad... I know its coming soon, but I want MOAR cool stuff now! Looking forward to Google maps panorama street-view mode (or whatever it will be called), maybe something like skype would be more useful than the built in chat app, being able to chat to iphones and web cams would be useful... not everyone I know has a WiiU (infact I know 1 person (from non forum friends)), and basic everyday-useful-things like iPlayer/4OD/iTV player etc which PS3 already has... The TV remote app is actually brilliantly useful too, didn't realize how often I lost my actual TV remote  |
Folks always name the same 2 or 3 games that are worth getting on this thing, despite there being like 20+ games released. That right there is a sign that I should just wait to get this. But arrrgh I'm seeing some pretty cheap deals on ebay that I'd hate to let slip through my fingers.
Have you tried playing regular Wii games on this thing? I got an unopened Metroid Prime collector's edition game that I been waiting to play for awhile, but I wanna experience this game with hi-res graphics. Does the Wii U amplify the graphics of regular Wii games at all? |

(I bought ZombiU and Nintendo Land as "unwanted xmas gifts" games off ebay recently = 2 games for £50 delivered) Games like the sheep one, rabbids, and game/sports connection/party/fun/box (whatever) have historically been sh!t, and I'm not wasting my money on third party shovel-ware, unless it gets a killer review on metacritic. Rayman legends and Sonic Racers transformed looks pretty good, but I can wait it out and read thorough reviews before buying. The vWii does not scale up the GFX afaik. If anything it looks worse, because any blur the Wii used to have hid any imperfections and now the HD out put shows off the jaggies and sketchy GFX even more. I would presume Nintendo will address this in future updates :dontknow: |
I like the size of the Wii-U if I compare it to the PS3, negative thing for me is the noise of the BD (..) drive and the fact the BD (..) drive can't read DVD and BD. Battery life of the GamePad is also not that good.
Games library is a bit to early to talk about but the fact some big games don't come to the Wii-U (like Far Cry 3 and Crysis 3) is vey disappointing for me. So I see the Wii-U more as an add on for my PS3 as an replacement for my PS3. |
Good points.

Thanks for all the input guys. I think I'll go ahead and get this. Possibly the Basic version. I was also worried about the battery life on the Gamepad but I just seen news that Nyko is about to release two new extended batteries for the Gamepad in February that's gonna give you like 9 to 12 hours of usage on it, compared to the crappy 3 hours you get now. Kinda excited for that.
