Ps3 phat 60gb service due high temp alternative?

Hi guys I just repaired my first ylod ps3 for a friend with the reflow method and was successfully, I then tried the potentiometer fan mod to prevent this happening again but it was a berry tight fit..

This got me thinking about my ps3 and on rogero 4.30 it tells me my CPU and gpu are both running in the 70*c area wich from what I have read is quite high compared to most people on forums.. So I will change my CPU Gpu paste n clean her out but I don't want to have a potentiometer hanging out my ps3...

Here's the question: if I was to run a wire from the power supply to the grey fan wire without removing the fan wire from the main board but just put a Fixed resistor instead Of a variable resistor. This will raise the fan speed slightly without it sounding like a Hoover but if the temps do ever get high the board will still send its signal an up the power further???

Or: would sendin power to that wire sed power the wrong way throught the main board n bugger me completely??

And has anyone tried this??

Thanks

Do what I have done with both my 60gb models. Remove the sd card reader and put your pot going through one of the sd slots. Then you can just lift the flap and have your dial right there for controlling speed.

Smart idea but I do use the memory card reader at times.. Plus I have a wireless controller and play all my games as back up.. So keep geting up to adjust speed is what I want to avoid.. Just want the fan at a slightly faster speed so it's not to loud but keeps the ps3 a bit cooler but if she does get hot the ps3 can look after itself..
