Ok so lastnight managed to get a faulty backwards compatable 60gb ps3 for £5. Yes £5!:laugh:

Anyway it has the glod. where console powers up but no video, controller sync or recovery menu.

Anyone know a way of fixing it?

I just reflowed it but not sure if it will work. I know its a problem with the rsx chip contacts not working.

@seanbomb1 , do you know the history of the ps3?, like if they tried to downgrade it?

Try adding washers, it helped when i got the GLOD on my console after messing about with it.

Its never been downgraded, the guy I got it from had it stored away for about 2 year so most likely it is already under 3.55. So it isn't a semi brick.

I had one like this before and added washers on the rsx clamp. Tried with this one and nothing.

Reflow gave it ylod haha, just gonna sell parts. Not worth reballing.

Just for the record glod you will still get controller sync.

i think he needs to still change over the video output. like its stuck on hdmi but he is useing video cables. or vice vursa. try holding power button down till you here a 2nd beep then let go. then turn off then back on

Guys I know my ps3 repairs, On GLOD you dont get controller sync, that is one of the main issues lol!

It is also no stuck in video mode, not stupid to fall for that, plus you dont get recovery menu on GLOD which is what is happening to me...

good luck friend. i just rlod my main ps3 but thats becuse of the overheating andold thermal pasts. ll stop commenting cuz im not sure whats wronge in your case. i had a frind with a solid green light but that was becuse his blueray drive power socket became corroded and the sadur job was bad.
