New user needing some simple answers thanks!
 

Okay so Id like to say I am new here, my name is Josh and I am a pretty tech savvy guy.(at least I'd like to thing so)

Well to give you some information I have never fooled around or tinkered with my ps3. My xbox 360 I modded and was able to play burned games with it by connecting it to SATA and such.

Now my goal is to do the same thing with my ps3. All I need is to play burned games or somehow transfer them from my computer.

Ive spent the past 5 hours on google/youtube/forums/fake sites

I can not get down to the point and there are so many answers to so many questions and all of them are different. I can never get a solid answer or know what to believe / think.

I have firmware 4.31 i guess this is bad from what I have seen and read.

What do I need to do to play games that I have downloaded / burned?

Do I need to downgrade? Do I need to buy a flasher? Do I need to tinker with the inside of the ps3?

Here is some more information on my system:

Version 4.21
NTSC

It is a CECH-3001B
Its one of the first versions I know it wasnt too long after release that I purchased it, its not a slim or anything fancy.

I know about how angry people get at those who cant google or research anything themselves, but I did that and was successful on my own with my xbox 360. This ps3 ordeal is different so many fakes and surveys **** that I can not find correct and accurate answers! I would appreciate any feed back and hopefully you all respect this thread and others can also receive information from reading feedback and replies! Thanks and I am not just some leecher I hope to learn a lot and eventually get on the other side so I can help other as well! Appreciate any replies!

Nope. And it is not one of the first ones. And it is a slim. It is actually the newest slim.
The 4000 series is the newest PS3s, they are super slims.
Yours came out just before those.

3000 and 4000 series are unhackable. At this time. Who knows if ever.

hmm I thought it was earlier. Well that ruins my day... guess its back to the laptop and ps3 gamepad controller for games

yeah btw i just did a firmware check 3.66 is the lowest it will go! Damn ! haha but thanks a lot man saved me from more researching

There are some great people on this site that have systems for sale that are already downgraded. This is an awesome site, surf around and you'll find those that have them;-).

you and I are in the same boat... the 3000 can be jailbroken if we had the LV0.2 keys *correct me if i am incorrect*

You are sure it is a 3001B? When did you buy it?
