Multiman and Filezilla problem
I'm having a problem with Filezilla FTP and Multiman. I've found no advice that has worked for me although a few people have talked about it.
No worries connecting and accessing directories. I've uploaded 100s of thousands of files over time and I consistently get a stall at various stages (normally just before 500 files, 496, 487, sometimes 15 or 20 large files) and have been reseting everything trying to get it to go through overnight or for long periods. Neither the PS3 or Filezilla actually stalls it just hangs at a new file or a certain progress % until I stop the cue or exit multiman. Restarting the cue or filezilla has no effect. Restarting multiman always works again for the same 500 or less files. Isolating the problem, I have the problem on both Rogero 4.30 V2.05 and Kneaw 3.55 firmware, all updates of multiman over the couple of years, usb000, usb008, hdd0 etc etc, makes no difference where I'm uploading to the PS3. I've never needed to download that many files from the PS3 so never tried the other way. The fix is to restart multiman by quitting game and it will do another <500 files. I tried other ftp programs but didn't get connection (eg. 4.2 CFW and up blackbox) so didn't pursue. I've tried other PC clients with same results. I have DIR-655 router, Intel Quad6600 based PC with 4gig ram clocked up to 3.06ghz, it is possible I have lower grade cables I haven't checked (haven't tried direct connection), PS3 has external hdd hooked into internal via esata, 2 external hdds, one via PS3 front usb port, one via very cheap usb hub, both hdd externally powered. . Filezilla settings are pretty much standard. I've modified my DIR-655 according to instructions about being better for torrents. All my NICs had jumbo frames on but now no jumbo frames across the board. PS3 is a permanent IP as is the computer. Some routing protocols to prioritise web traffic over torrents on the router. Anyone know how to fix this? |

when at least one of them is connected via WLAN then try LAN (better try direct connect) also did you try to change the LAN-cables? |

I had to reinstall MM (deleted from XMB menu and then got newer version of MM and new rom pack on link page, retro-whateveritscalled doesn't load, lots of retro roms on hdds). I thought it may be 3.55 based software or the MM I had, always ran out of time to fix it....could still be left over settings in MM on new install. When I upgraded it is the same. I don't have the swap space to a drive for a full format etc. I installed 4.30 from XMB w/o success in making qa toggle or qa flag pkgs work. I get MM working and start transferring some discs and it's back to the <500 files game. ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* would anyone mind telling me the multiman settings path so I can delete and clean install or any other steps to clean install mm? Anyone else got a DIR-655 or similar dlink router that causes this behaviour? I think it's somehow a firewall rule. People have no problems with MM and Filezilla normally do they? |

its pretty nice and no problems when i wear you i'd try direct connect to see if the router is the prob also deactivate all firewalls/anti-vir when u use that |
SOLVED - Multiman and Filezilla problem
turns out to be combination of wireless and jumbo frames settings. When I put jumbo frames back to normal on the network and used both direct and router connection for PS3 I had no further problems, 16-30mb/s speeds, loads more responsive as well! previously I had tried the wired connection and found it exactly the same (with jumbo frames settings).
Either that or something else has made my network work properly... Sorry for my noobiness! |
Nope I spoke to soon. The problem has returned. The reason I thought it had gone is because it doesn't not happen on the internal hdd (which is an external hdd for me).
My setup is PS3>sata to esata cable>powered hdd case>hdd (would have to open it to find out what model) >cheap generic usb hub>seagate go-flex 2tb usb 3.0 >seagate "expansion" 2tb (older) I'll try the 2 drives separately w/o the hub and see what I get... |
If it doesn't happen on the internal and only on the external, it might be a bad connection with ur sata to esata cable or cheap generic usb hub.
Also, try using Filezilla in Passive Mode and reducing Maximum simultaneous transfers to 2. |
quick update, once I set maximum simultaneous transfers to 2, one of the 2 stops like before but the other does the rest (10,000 or 20,000 np). I should do more investigation when I get time but for now I can transfer all but one file without restarting multiman then a quick restart at the end (much better than every 500 files)
