Hi, I am new to all this forum world so please bear with me peeps lol and sorry if I am posting in the wrong place . Well basically , I have jailbroken my ps3 and it is currently running 3.55 kmeaw. I have multiman installed already. Now my problem is, when i go to back up a game, it begins the backup fine, however half way through it just stops and says 'aborted'. iv tried many different games and they all start ok but at a certain point would stop and say aborted. It copies dvd's fine. The ps3 was an old one which had been sitting in the attic for ages. i bought it a new laser and fitted it. And it plays dvd's fine. I have no blu ray dvd's to test on it. And as it is on 3.55 kmeaw i can't run the game from xmb as it asks me to update so there is no way of me finding out if it has an issue running the games. But when i put a disk in it seems fine the disk icon comes up fine and the game title comes up etc. The games themselves are fine they play well on my other ps3. So my questions are, firstly, is there a way for me to play a ps3 game on my system without backing it up first? IE, straight from the disk? (As the back up process fails and xmb asks for update to play straight from the disk). Because it seems the only way to really check to see if the games work on it is by updating to the OFW (in which case i wont be able to undo it and jailbreak it again). I have tried running games on rogero 4.30 but it comes up with error 80010017 which i googled and it turns out it comes up because it needs to be updated! . My second question is, would it be possible to copy the game in portions? Like copy the disk contents bit by bit instead of all in one go? Well that is my issue guys there seems to be a lot of smart people here im hoping someone could help me. Or if there is any other solution you know of, or any way to get around having to back up the games to play them. I'm open to any suggestions. Thank you

Hi javjav, sounds to me like the external hard drive you're trying to rip the games to is on it's way out.

What version of Rogero did you install?
What version of Multiman did you install?
What game are you trying to play?

Rogero 4.30 V2.05 and multiman 04.19.00 should play all games requiring 4.31 official firmware.

I used rogero 4.30 v2.03 and with the latest multiman. The main game im trying to play is gta 4. but i tried hitman, fifa 12 & 13, saints row, and other but none seem to copy. I tried copying to internal hard drive but i get the same problem :(

Do you mean i should be able to play the games straight from disk without the need to back up if i use Rogero 4.30 V2.05 and multiman 04.19.00? i will try this now.

you are on kmeaw. got a list to rattle off to you. is it the QA version? if yes are your flags set? do you have the bdemu2.pkg file installed to boot games discless? and when try to play a game and the disc asks to update press 0. you only need to update to play online. so do that. n let us know if its working. those are the most basic and simple steps ppl overlook so lets start there.

also an update the disc asks to do usually is game data not firmware. read what its saying. either way press 0 to say no to update and the game will boot anyways. and i can also confirm gta4 will boot no disc once we fix your issues. lastly ive got a work around idea? since you are on kmeaw get blackbox ftp. rip the games to your pc. if you have no blu ray torrents are your friend. once its done patch the eboot if needed and ftp the file to your internal. that will tell us if the fail to work is due to the drive or system. and discs are almost useless with cfw :P i suggest a small game to try. say nascar 2012? its like 2 gig.

Hi, no its not qa, and no i dont have bdemu (dont know what it is lol) And when it asks for update, its not asking to update the game, it says you are currently on 3.55 and need to upgrade the ps3 to play this game (paraphrasing)

i cant say this enough when ya lanch a blu ray game and it asks to update its GAME DATA NOT FW DATA. the game would say firmware update required not software. and just press the o button. offline updates are not required.

Would i not need a blu ray drive in my laptop to rip the game to my laptop? Thats probably a noob question lol. what is blackbox what does it do?

Ok this is the exact words when i press load through multiman:

The system software of your ps3 system is version 3.55. To start, you must update to version 3.70 or later. Do you want to update now?

i then press circle and it goes back to where i started


(btw i am trying to run the game straight from the disk not from back up)

Make sure all the game data from those games is removed, then go into recovery menu and rebuild the database.

Failing that, try to deactivate and then activate your PS3 from account management after signing in. Or maybe it's linked to the same problem you have with ripping the games i.e a logic board problem or laser problem.

Well at least this time it won't brick his PS3. LOL.
You do know that every game disc has an PS_UPDATE folder with a PS3UPDAT.PUP in it, right? And if the PS3 is not on the firmware the game needs, you do need to update.
If you don't have online to update. You can update from the disc to play the game.
Please, just stop acting like you know how to fix everyone's problems. Everything you say always has something way wrong in it.

I'm not trying to be a d!ck. So don't take it the wrong way. I just hate seeing someone trying to fix a problem, and given bad advice.

If I were you I would try what @charlie666 said. Or even go one step further, and format the drive with your pc. Put it back in the PS3 and install Rogero 4.30 v2.05 and multiman 04.19.00.
