UPDATER_LOG.txt empty and ps3 stuck at this point

Progskeet v1.1

Dumped and patched dump.
Wrote back to ps3. Turned on and I sae "connect a controller"
Turned of.
Took psp 5.50 gen d3 and put ps3 in FSM via PSP JIG
Took USB flashdrive and put LVdiag.self and PS3UPDAT(rogero v3.7) (as always)
Put USB into right USB port
When I start and downgrade process should begin the orange light flashes just a few times and ps3 is stuck on that for ages. ( no more orange light)
I took out flash drive and checked the files. UPDATER_LOG.txt is created but it is empty.

I have downgraded over 20 slims and phats, but I cant find a problem on this one. What I should do?

You tried the recovery mode ?

No. In tutorials it is clearly stated: Do not connect the controller.

After I saw screen: "Connect a controller" I just turned of the ps3.

Try a different USB stick. Some PS3s can be picky, or so I have heard. I haven't actually had that problem. But seen some that have.

Or even giving the USB stick you have a FULL format, might help.

Tried 3 different USB sticks. All formatted to Fat32 (even Full format, not quick). PS3 goes to FSM flawlessly, but when I put USB with prepared files - HDD led flashes orange few times ( creates UPDATER_LOG.txt) and nothing more happens. Green light stays on forever and nothing happens.

it is really strange because I never had such a problem before.

I'm having the same problem with no solution.....searched all over the internet...I got one log completed with manufacturing failure...tried different .self files and different modified pups...no success...I hope there is a fix out there somewhere...

Let me explain what happens at that step, and I will tell you what I think the problem is.

After you have entered FSM, when you turn on the PS3 it is looking for the .self file. This file has what function the PS3 needs to call on. With this case it is calling on install firmware.
After it calls that function, its next step is to format the HDD.
Next it extracts the PUP file to the HDD.
Then it installs what it has extracted to the nor chip, and some to the HDD. Or all to the 2 Nand chips. Depending on the model.
Then if that PUP has Bd firmware and BT firmware it installs that to the blu ray and blu tooth module.
Once that is done, it starts making checks. And checks that all the hardware is functioning properly. (Of course with Rogero, most of the checks are removed).

It seems that it is failing for you at the very start. So at the start, would be finding the self. I think it is finding it, since it does make a log file.
So what I think is it is having a problem formatting the HDD. This is just a guess. And I am not sure why the log file would not give an error code for it.

Maybe try a different HDD. Or format the HDD with your PC. Then try again.

I am not sure you are having the same problem. Since your log file has information. What is the error code it gives? There is probably 2 of them.

Tried:

3 different HDDs (original one and 2 formtatted with PC)
Changed USB board ( in my phat model it seperated from mainboard) DIA-002

Problem solved.

Dumped with progskeet
Patched dump manually with three muskeeters pacthes.
Wrote it back
Ps3 showed "connec t controller..."
Connected controller
Put MiralaTijera CFW 4.3 to USb flash into X:PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP
I though that ps3 is stuck on screen: "Please wait... Chekling"
It took about 20-30 minutes to go through this screen and Updated started.
Installation procedure...

Done.

NowPS3 is on 4.31 CFW

I hope that this can help other people :)

(I didnt use FSM dongle)
