Blame the Developers? | Why the Wii U Lacks Multiplatform Games
Hmm?

I just want to hear your opinions. Are the developers lazy or does Nintendo not give a crap about multiplatform games? Is this going to be the Wii all over again? |
Its not Nintendo, they want the games, but they keep getting stone walled.
Its probably down to the fact that Nintendo aren't really took serious, people refer to their consoles as "Children's Toys". Nintendo did great with the Wii, it was their best console in terms of popularity since the ends, it faced the same burdens and same haters, but as it stands at the moment, it is the most popular seventh Gen console. |
I wish I knew. We already know of one developer who said they won't make a game for it. I also don't know if Nintendo is doing everything they can to reign in developers. Either way, they're only losing money by not working together.
|
My guess is that the target audience is different (casual gamers, children). I would buy a wii-u to play mario and other franchises from Nintendo, the same way I bought the ps3 because of uncharted and 360 because of lost odyssey, despite having a very good PC.
So I think Nintendo do not care about multi-platform games that will only show the console limitations in comparison to other systems. But I know I'm probably wrong... |
@LoboGuara
- You pose a very interesting argument. I never thought of it that way.

nintendo dont really need to rely on multiplats. that alone is an achievement. i dont think its the fact they dont care about 3rd party support but rather they dont need it as much as devs would like them to
will the lack of them make their console be any less popular? doubtful. they have a winning formula and they will be successful regardless. the ones who lose out will be the developers as their laziness to develop for a new system will see many potential sales vanish. nintendo have a target base that doesnt really change much and i dont see them changing anytime soon as its not needed i cant vote as i cant select "both" |
Dang, it has just been brought to my attention that Nintendo just lost two exclusive titles. They really need to do something about this.
Ninja Gaiden 3 no longer exclusive: http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2013/...usive-anymore/ Rayman Legends no longer exclusive: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/201...d_to_september |

In fact Ninja Gaiden 3 wont be on the Wii U, there will be a version of it called Ninja Gaiden 3 Razors Edge, which has been Exclusively on the Wii U since November 2012 and will remain so until April 2013, a few months exclusivity is still exclusivity.... |
@GregoryRasputin
you know what I meant. They still lost it as an all-time exclusive which is a problem since somebody that would have maybe only bought the Wii U for that game can now get it elsewhere, and Nintendo lost a potential sale.
|
When it comes down to it many multi platform games are created for consoles that are in many ways completely different than the wii u. The wii u is a niche, whether that will change who knows. One of the curses about being the first company to go next gen, maybe a tab premature.
