1. Can i connect the ps3 (not signing in to PSN) to the internet without it being banned?

2. How do I update the backup games without signing into PSN?

2) connect the PS3 to internet
it asks you to update when you start the game

1, yes you can, I do this with no PSN account on my CFW machine.

2, download updates from here: http://yifan.lu/psn/ (type in the gameID like : BLUS112233) download them to PC, save to USB stick, install via PKG manager on PS3.

Alternatively select your back up through mM click triangle and click update, install update and play.

Alternative no:2 Load your game through mM, boot it from disc when back at XMB, when it says there is and update available click ok, and update like faxiy said.

I have tried all 3 ways and they all work just the same.
