Ylod Help!!
So, I got the YLOD last night. But the thing is I don't think it's an overheating issue. It's a 60gb model CECHC02. It got reflowed for the first time 3 weeks ago, fan mod installed running great.
Bluray drive went, so I got a replacement and successfully completed the remarry process, worked a treat as I have done this before, the drive was reading discs all is good. Still in FSM, I had the console still on, and i'm holding the bluray ribbon in as the clip to hold it down is broken. The ribbon cable comes out slightly, so I pushed the ribbon cable back into the connector with a little pressure (bit silly while the unit is still on), and all of a sudden I hear 3 beeps, red blinking light. Oh no... turn the console on YLOD. I've checked all the connections, and everything is plugged in right. Tried a different bluray ribbon cable. Tried putting in a different hdd, and tried power/eject with a dongle still nothing. I am out of ideas... if anyone could help shed some light on my problem that would be great. |

you only get the blinking red light when you start the ps3?, or dous it blink no matter what. EDIT: your best bet is to try to measure PS6001 if it's faulty. most wires from that ribbon are communication lines to southbridge and some to the syscon, but if a short on these lines can break a fuse? :dontknow: there's a 3,3V also on that ribbon but a short there will probably result in a dead ps3 at worst. ;) if you are lucky it's just that fuse, else it's or a coinsedence or you have bigger problems. |
Where is the PS6001 located on the motherboard man? I don't know a hell of a lot about fuses etc? If it is faulty would it be an easy fix?

like i said before i would be surprised if it is faulty, but you have to start somewhere. you need to have a meter and measure if there's continuity. (0-1 ohm) first measure if it's faulty, then you can think of replacing it. |
