No matter how much of an asshole people think i am and its true i can be a complete dick at times, there is no denying that i have a huge passion for the PS3 Scene, i know its not the best scene in the world, in fact its probably the worst, but my passion for it outweighs all the negativity.

That passion developed more when the PS3 was “Jailbroken”, it drove me to create PS3History, which i originally started here on PS3HaX, but it got to large and cumbersome for the one page, so i created www.ps3history.net which has been going for almost two years, then the PS Vita was announced, which made me decide to create “consolehistories”, i have history for the Vita and WiiU, though none of them are anywhere near the same caliber as PS3History, quite recently i was inspired by PS3HaX member “jennys” to create Retro History, so with that said, now and then i post my PS3History progress and that is what im just about to do below.

I know the PS3History is not complete, it is very far from being complete, what i would like from my fellow PS3HaX comrades is input and on the website and remind me of anything i have left out, anyhow here goes:

    2000 - 2001

These years may seem early for a story on the History Of The PS3, but these dates will be understood as you read further into the PS3 history.(Thanks to winocm, for making me go back this far :p).

Team E3DIY, the guys that brought you E3 Flasher, and the E3 reader have contacted us today letting us know they have managed to play all PS3 games on 3.55 PS3 CFW (just like TB/JB2). Before we get too excited, I believe it will most likely be a dongle solution - but this does open up another device to be explored and may get us closer in figuring out how TB works and a free-scene solution.

Their solution is still a work in progress, and they will let us know when more updates / release date will become available.

The E3 Flasher, by Team EyDIY, as contacted us today informing about the latest updates to the flasher for PS3. They have released the diagrams required for a “fast dual boot” and have confirmed support for all firmwares up to the latest: 4.11.

    To quote:

1: New mainboard Fast dual boot successfully with E3 FLASHER. Click here to download manual.

2: E3 flasher Fast dual boot and downgrade OFW4.11 to 3.55 successfully, it’s same way as downgrade 3.73 to 3.55.
We suggest user upgrade to OFW4.11 and then downgrade to 3.55 from now on. And don’t forget backup your OFW4.11 bios well .

3: Downgrade to OFW3.41 from CFW3.55CHECKOFF successfully, tested by E3TEAM.
Now you can enjoy any 3.55FW by this way (downgrade to OFW3.41 and then upgrade to 3.55, include JB2CFW3.55, OFW3.55 and others). Click here to download manual.

It has been a while since i update my PS3 history on this site, so instead of rehashing the same old thread, i thought i would make a new post, to get those acquainted with the history that is the PS3:

These years may seem early for a story on the History Of The PS3, but these dates will be understood as you read further into the PS3 history.(Thanks to winocm, for making me go back this far :p).

During the year 2000, Sony Computer Entertainment, Toshiba, and IBM(STI),formed an alliance, an alliance that would see the creation of the Cell Processor, Cell is short for Cell Broadband Engine Architecture.

    March 2001
The STI design center opens and begins production of the Cell processor, this would be a four year endeavor, which would lead you to 2005.

Part of the above is sourced from Wikipedia.

Most of you should already know what the E3 flasher is, for those of you who have been living in a cave and don’t know what it is, read this thread.

For those of you thinking of buying it, but unsure of how easy/hard it is to install Chris from ChrisTechTV has released a video tutorial on how to install the E3 Flasher.

At the moment the E3 flasher only supports flashing NOR consoles, so here is a compatibility list:

E3DIY contacted us today confirming that E3 Flasher works just fine with the newest PS3 FW update. They also give a warning on while using their flasher and downgrading, do NOT update/install 3.55 OWF or CFW.

    To quote:

E3 FLASHER LIMITED downgrade 3.73 to 3.55 successful , the way is same as before, no changes !
and also we upload a good working manager, you can check official web to download .

And also please note : after downgrade to 3.55, don’t install any other 3.55CFW or 3.55OFW, otherwise PS3 will get brick just install manager to play HDD game.

if you want play PSN, just upgrade to 3.73 with normal upgrade way (network or USB device).

Updates to story follow below. So more word from Team E3DIY for the anticipated E3 flasher. They have contacted PS3Hax and have confirmed that they will begin shipping units on the 13th. They also have made available the SLIM install PDF guide which you can download here. More information at their website here.

The biggest change you guys should be aware of that the versions shipping will not feature dual-booting. This is mainly due to the need of manually soldering additional wires. They told us to expect another version with the dual booting ability soon.

    To quote:

E3 flasher LIMITED version start to ship on 13th. We are sorry for the delay because CLIP component is very low rate .
We had to ship small quantity like 100-200pcs every day recently , we are working hard to improve those problem.

Now you can get new slim installation manual with clip from official web.

E3 flasher limited version fixed on NOR FLASH FAT console not so good, you can know some from official web ,
sure all NOR FLASH console is NO SOLDER include SLIM AND NOR FLASH FAT .

We are regret that we had to cancel some function like dual boot from E3 FLASHER LIMITED version
becuase NO solder function added(CLIP). We will develop a new flasher to add those function with few wire solder.

We take some picture for E3 FLASHER LIMITED production, you can know production status official web .

    UPDATE 1:

Got this email below from Team E3DIY:

We think lots of user mis-understand us, here is some clarification.
1: E3 FLASHER LIMITED still provide 11 accessory, include esata station.
2: we design e3 flasher on solder way at first, this way can get dual boot well. But later we change hardware and software design because of adding clip. so finally it’s difficult to get dual boot function on e3 flasher clip version.
3: You still can get 3.72 and 3.55 switch with 2 HDD, it need more steps than dual boot, maybe we can call it half dual boot. This way no need any solder. We will release this half dual boot way in few days, you just upgrade e3 flasher limited and get it work.
4: We are working hard to allow e3 flasher limited vesion works really dual boot, but we can’t promise now because lots of changes.
5: We upload all neccessory software and manual, you can go here to download and enjoy one key downgrade.
6: New e3 flasher should come out in few month with more fantastic function !

  • Posted by Pirate , on 30/09/2011 , @ 01:25pm

Team E3DIY has contacted us again today with more information on when we can expect the E3 flasher. The new release date is aimed at October 10th, and they also had to cancel NAND flash support as they decided many people would prefer a solderless chip.

    To quote email:

E3 flasher Limited package publicized, it contain 3 inner boxes, total 11 parts.
you can check picture here : http://www.e3-tech.net/prdouct.html

And the shipping date should be arround 10th Oct because of China’s National Day Holiday delay .

We noticed most users are afraid of soldering wire, so we cancel NAND flash support on limited version,
and will release a new e3 flasher specially for nand flash console with nand flash clip .

So for nand flash console user, please wait the new e3 flasher, should release in few weeks.

PS: All e3 flasher limited version include nor flash clip, you need NO solder on those nor flash console with downgrade function.

E3DIY Team has contacted PS3Hax today to let us know that their downgrader still works with 3.72 and provide video proof below:

    To quote email:

    E3 FLASHER , downgrade 3.72 to 3.55 successfully ! dual boot 3.72 and 3.55 successfully !
with E3 FLASHER, all is so easy, just switch and works !

here is dual boot video link : http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMzA1ODIzNjA4.html

And another BIG news is E3 will provide NOR FLASH CLIP free in 3K limited version !
so all slim and parts of fat console no need solder for downgrading .

NAND FLASH CLIP also fininshed, will be available in coming new E3 FLASHER NAND version.

E3 flasher shipping date will little delay because of adding extra clip.
we will inform shipping date in next few days ,sorry bring inconvenience for E3 user.

More news for Team E3DIY, on the E3 Flasher. Today they have sent me installation videos on PS3 slim, and have clarified on the “premium” version price which was reported $88.

    To quote:

And we also upload universal screwer picture and E3 linker in the picture.
Please note E3 linker is only for FAT console , come with E3 FLASHER LIMITED suit.

We noticed some player complain E3 FLASHER LIMITED SUIT price, I think people are forgetting that:

    1. E3 FLASHER LIMITED SUIT come with 8 accessory, the cost is about 6times than similar flasher.
    2. The eSata station unit cost is $34
    3. Universal screwdriver, $3 on Amazon
    4. E3 Flasher Gift Box (few dollars)
    5. Power switch, (few dollars)

Ok, so at least you can get USD88-USD34-USD3-??= about USD50 only !
This means you get downgrade and dual boot function with similar price as other brand flasher ! And don’t foget E3 FLASHER include 4 BIG COST BOARD !

So this is what E3 do, 6times cost but similar price for all user !

I would imagine many of you already have some of these components, and won’t need this premium version and could expect a stripped down version of just the board for $50 which is not too bad, and still cheaper than a second PS3.

They also have released a PDF of them installing the E3 Flasher on a Slim PS3, you can see it below:
[Download install PS3 Slim PDF here]

Stay tuned for more exclusive updates right here @PS3Hax.

Team E3DIY has contacted PS3Hax today, bringing another proof of concept video this time demonstrating PSN support. Ofcourse this is OFW 3.70 so you won’t be able to play online with your backed up games (as  of now anyways) - but some PSN is better than no PSN.

    To quote email:

Clear up doubt ,E3 FLASHER dual boot, 3.7 play PSN and 3.55 play HD game

After we release dual boot video, most player love it and also with some doubt.
We understand, so today release a new video, and do some clarification .

1: E3 FLASHER not only a flasher, but with perfectly extension because integrated lots of interface, we will release
more useful function later, all will be free just like we release golden finger function on E3 card reader.

2: E3 FLASHER can be upgrade from PC USB or TF card, very simple.

3: E3 FLASHER dual boot need 2 harddisk, one for 3.7 , another for 3.55. if you use only one HD, it will be required format everytime.
we will release a kit include ESATA station for you switch harddisk. (support 2.5 and 3.5′ DISK)

4: At present, on nand flash console, it need solder wire. And no dual boot function because no 256M NAND FLASH ON E3 FLASHER.
on nor flash fat console, it need solder wire , and include dual boot function.
on slim console, it no need solder wire but need solder some point.it is easy can be done in 3min. (don’t misunderstand no solder wire means no solder)

5: we will release 2 new version E3 FLASHER at the end of this month.
One is 256M nand flash on board and with CLIP, to get dual boot and no solder function.
Another is same as present E3 FLASHER but with CLIP, so all nor flash console no need any solder at that time. (sure cost will higher)

6: If all go well, we will release official picture and retail price on this wensday !

We also have more insight on the price which is expected to be around ~$100 USD so for those interested in purchasing one this is the price range to aim for.

There also is a review sample coming in for us that I will review and be giving away to one of our members for free :)

Stay tuned for more exciting n’ exclusive updates @ PS3Hax.

E3diy, the creator’s of the E3 Jailbreaking Dongle/Card Reader have released a free cheating method to owners of their dongle, it gives you the usual, unlimited health and ammo and it works on any console on firmware 3.50 and below, here is a quote from their site:

    Hi Buddy

We are E3diy. Do you forget your E3card Reader?
Today we will bring you a new surprise, a complete FREE gift, the E3 Golden Finger.
Three months ago, there was a war that engulf the world. It’s not only the war between SONY and hackers but also among the jailbreakers. You know, there were three kinds of jailbreaks:
those could not be upgraded, those the clone of the clone of the clone and those big-ones which could downgrade the PS3 firmware from 3.50 to any lower version. Those of the three. That was three months ago. And now, how many of them can still be named?

    I don’t want to mention that we were the one who had fistly cheated the PSN with a 3.5proof then made the SONY change its strategy;
I don’t want to mention that we were the first one who had released the world’s first unlimited downgrader for completely free meanwhile some smart guys tried to sell their promise but made everyone upset.
I just want to say, hi guys we are still here, we still work for your joy, and other than these, nothing is important.

Currently, E3 GoldenFinger support genuine games , and the supporting for ROM is coming soon.

Armed with the E3 Golden Finger means that you could have:
    - unlimited ammo
    - unlimited HP and MP
    - An undead body in the game.
    - Teach those big-guys who truly is the right BOSS.

The only thing you need is to:
    - Download the free upgrade file
    - Plug your E3card Reader in your PC
    - Copy the upgrade file(GoldenFinger.bin) to the E3Upgrader driver
    - Copy the CFD folder into the 4M memory stick(E3_4M_STICK).
    - Please refer to the user guide for the useage.

    Then everything is done.

    For your joy, we will
    - bring more new features to you,
    - add support for new games ASAP
    - try to make the next surprise for you quietly. ^_^

    Have a good time.

I have read quite a few histories on game consoles, they all have been greatly written by great authors, but they all seemed incomplete, they didn’t portray the full history, the full essence of the machine, so as i am involved in the PS3 scene and know quite a bit about it, i thought i would write a complete history, containing the good, the bad and the ugly and believe me the PS3 has quite an exciting history and future, i wanted to write a history that will be enjoyed by everyone, one where people like myself wouldn’t finish the story, thinking there is something missing, i would also like to mention, that this work is my creation, i have written it in my own words, most of it from memory, sourced from various places over the internet, but mostly from ps3hax.net, so without any more interruption, here is the history of the PS3:

    16th of May 2005
The world was awoken, to the news of a brand new console, this wouldn’t be a console, but a super computer, it would have everything that you needed for your gaming/media/computing needs, for ten years at least, the original console which was showcased, was silver in colour and had what appeared to be a brand new control pad design, it resembled a boomerang, it had three 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports, two HDMI ports and six USB ports, though unfortunately that wouldn’t be the final design, here are the specs revealed at Sony’s E3 presentation 2005:

    Product Name: PlayStation 3

    CPU: Cell Processor

    PowerPC-base Core @3.2GHz
1 VMX vector unit per core
    512KB L2 cache
    7 x SPE @3.2GHz
    7 x 128b 128 SIMD GPRs
    7 x 256KB SRAM for SPE
    * 1 of 8 SPEs reserved for redundancy
Total floating point performance: 218 GFLOPS

    GPU: RSX @550MHz
