Removing OtherOS (have they lost their minds???)
Well, here's my reaction on this:
First of all if they are serious and want to release a firmware update on April the 1st then they're probably joking. Happy April's fools.
Secondly I red somewhere that Sony can block this feature and pay for lawsuits when the minority of users get angry about this. They are still better off with paying for lawyers then dealing with piracy.
What about their partners like YD Linux and such ?
Now the third thing is as far as "research" goes. No one is planning on hacking GameOS at the moment (at least the serious "devs" have claimed this). I just don't understand why they couldn't just patch the Hypervisor and play Cat & Mouse with the hackers? Looks like $ony is just not getting enough money out of this business or they're too greedy. They have plenty of ways to solve this problem but instead they play dirty on their users.
Last but not least, the users are going to get really angry about this. Even people who have never thought they would do something like hacking a console, would get furious about this. This would only be fuel on the fire and attract more hackers. They started it by removing the possibility to use OtherOS on the slim consoles and now if it's not a joke then they're planning to remove a feature that allowed legal homebrew. (Sounds like madness to me, most of the hackers hack consoles just because of this. So far they were kept away, cause some legal homebrew was available through OtherOS)
Anyway if anything happens then just simply don't update, though i still think they're joking :aetsch:
