I didn't figure a lot of the individual ports like the Moto Droid and HTC devices would be as well supported with updates. This is why I ordered my Teensy board. It finally shipped and should be in my office Tuesday.
I would suggest doing the same. You can Pre-order and when they come in they ship them real fast. They are also one of the cheapest and most supported jailbreak solutions. When a new Hermes or version of PSGroove comes out they are built within hours of release so you can load them straight on the board. Also, it seems to be not so hard to compile yourself. Even someone without programming history with medium tech abilities can do it. This is merely a suggestion that I thought might help you or anyone else out thinking the same as you.
Edit: It is also worth noting that with the Teensy boards and other dev board like it, you don't have to jump through any hoops or take hours to set it up. All you have to do is download the software and load the hex on the board. It's a less than 15 minute process to update the board and get it back plugged into your PS3.
Just seems the most logical choice in my opinion, when they come back in stock anyway.
