Well, if you open up a theme (I recommend the original theme, because it surely has all of the parts as good examples, maybe minus a sound file) you'll get to see all of the parts inside that are required. It's basically a bunch of 1920x1080 images along with other images that act as overlays. I use Photoshop and just create all of those images the way I want, keeping a certain theme about it. No real trick, just time consuming work.
