power supply's are fairly easy to fix, the parts tend to fail as open or short
circuits, the part that failed in mine was a short circuit across all 3 leads
and was responsible for driving the step down transformer for the +12 volt
supply.

CAUTION!!
there are voltages greater than 200 volts in these circuits.
make sure the supply is unplugged and left to sit for 30 min

I have been always told never to open a power supply, for your own safety.
