There is no way to run a modified partitioned hard drive on official firmware as far as im aware of. Obviously the hard drive will have to be swapped out each time. But other then that. It sounds awesome!
Edit: I mean the only other option would be to restore your hdd every single time you switch and that would delete all your data.

Could they enable use of an external hdd for for cfw and internal for ofw?
This is not something I have looked into or anything, just thinking.
