With respects bud, I'm the last one you need to explain to about SSHFS FTP. TFTP, FTPS or any other protocol for that matter. I remember what is now known as wireless now, as RLAN Or RadioLAN with silly looking satellite dish looking things, hanging from our monitors pointing to the transmitter 15 years ish ago, when they never even thought about encryption.

Maybe I could understand if you was using the ps3 on the WAN and you was transferring files from it that was restricted to only your eyes and wish to use ftps, as you would, but not on a LAN at home with a media player.

SSHFS provides secure file transfer and remote file systems, ,so that would be very hard for Dean to implement like I said before FTPS maybe but not SSHFS.
