I've been trying to boot Red Ribbon RC4 and RC5 from Petitboot on a CFW I got from the gitbrew site. I followed the tutorial for insatalling petitboot to the letter and partitioned the hdd with the create_hdd_region.sh script. So far so good: Petitboot loads and I can telnet to the ps3 and scroll through the different petitboot sntries.
But whatever I try, after booting into Petitboot and selecting one of the entries to boot Red Ribbon (all the entries have the same effect live / live-failsafe / live-asbestos / live-asbestos-failsafe) the ps3 shows a line of text stating "systems is going down now" for a minute or so and then goes back to the petitboot screen saying: "failed: kexec /var/petitboot/mnt/sr0/live/vmlinux-2.6.38" and the ps3 hangs.
I've tried it several times, with different cfw s from gitbrew. completely formatting the HDD and restoring the hdd from the recovery menu, but nothing seems to give a different result... does anyone have an idea on what's going wrong? I've also tried ubuntu and debian. same reult. the installer script runs just fine but when i try to boot from petitboot it hangs saying Failed: kexec...
