The point of a joke is to make people laugh...but if you really want some pointers...
1.) Racist jokes are really only funny when you are a member of the race you are making fun of...if Jeff Foxworthy and Dave Chappelle swapped jokes, neither would be funny. Because race really isn't very obvious online, such jokes really are not very funny online.
2.) The only exception to rule 1 is when you are making yourself look like a racist hypocrite...a white guy making jokes about "Negros love fried chicken" is only funny if he is eating fried chicken as he tells the joke...and it isn't the joke that is funny. Again, unless it is a video, not very funny online.
3.) Making fun of yourself is funny...but only if your audience knows who you are.
4.) Male/female jokes are generally only funny to the gender that is not being made fun of (the opposite of rule 1 really).

5.) Lawyers and politicians are always fair game, so long as you keep to rules 1 & 2.
BTW...your ***/muslim joke about the tie and the water would have been funny if you had kept race out of it.
