First of all, I'd like to apologize for joining and quickly posting this thread. I just found out about this site and, due to my studies, I barely have time to look for info on this; I had to make this thread.
So
My PS3 Slim Bluray drive messed up and now it takes me about 20 tries inserting/ejecting a game for it to be read
It has this error:
UPDATE!!! Now FIXED - PS3 slim bluray making clicking noises - YouTube
I was going to buy the laser but, later decied to stick with 3.61 in hopes of CFW so I could backup my games. It's been a long time and no news of CFW in sight.
I was told to use Cobra USB, Progskeet or E3 Flasher to downgrade from 3.61 to 3.55 and then install CFW. I looked up each of those and did not understand the difference. Later, someone said I could indeed NOT do this with the Cobra USB. This produced confusions in the difference between each product...that person said that "you used progskeet to downgrade"; but then, what use Cobra for after you downgrade with Progskeet?
I was left with
a lot of unanswered questions
1) What exactly do each of these do that the other doesn't?
2)Is it true the only difference between Progskeet and E3 is that Progskeet needs soldering and E3 not?
>>>>>If so, what happens after that "solder-free" version of Progskeet comes out? Why is it taking SO long to come out? the news I found about it are old as hell, yet it hasn't come out...
3) With either product; why should I keep it after downgrading?
4)With either product; after downgrading, is it just straight installing CFW then backing up my games? Or am I missing a step?
5) If Progskeet is the product for me, is there any video or written tutorial (but preferably video) (or a written tutorial with photos) that shows how to solder? Or should I wait for the solder-free version? How long, more or less do I need to wait for that version if I do? Or did it already come out? The v1.1 has something about solderless tools but it doesn't say it's solderless itself...
Thanks in advance.
