so im running on firmware 3.15 , i never upgraded cause i wanted to keep the other os option

so my questions come in are

1. is it better to learn multi man, or buy a retail mod chip/psjailbreak

2. i understand you cant play any games online or sign into the ps network?

3. what can i do with other os option and what benefits does it have?
