They didn't modify the original games, they make their own discs (illegal/pirated copies basically). You can see it easily "FIFA SOCCER 2012" instead of FIFA 2012, and the bottom part with the SP3 logo is red instead of grey.
And this is most likely the reason those burned games/pirate copies only work in BD, they purposedly made it that way so that they can make more money selling discs (not many people have a BD burner).

Yes, I know they used their own media to place the copied/altered games on, but HOW did they alter they games in the first place?
The PS3 is not capable of BURNING a disc copy, and they state you cannot use the backup facility in multiMAN etc so unless they code has already been altered and saved on your PC etc, how can you make an ALTERED copy of an ORIGINAL DISC to Burn to a blank disc?
