To answer your questions:
Linux on 3.15 because I did not care for the whole jailbreak scene until my drive or better its controller board died. I was really angry about Sony when they came up with 3.21 removing OtherOS support and so I sticked with it. Anyways, watching BluRay movies was my main focus regarding the whole PS3 after this, because Games were no real choice with 3.15. Let's see, if I find time to do some more stuff with greater CFW and still having Linux. For now, my myin purpose for being here is to revive my BD.
I got OFW 3.15 since they introduced it and never went up and down again.
What I found regarding 3.15 being fine instead of 2.30 was related to my NOR based flash, which was the reason for noting it.
Another point is the loss of playing BD movies after remarriage. From what I found this is only related to NAND-based boards. So what did you do to get back movie playback if you have a NAND-based? I hope this does not happen to me. How do I backup dev_flash files? Can I do it without CFW and jailbreak at all? Does it help me at all? I thought, the DRLs are stored on the controller board, which is defect now. I don't know the movies that were played on the new spare board. I lokked to me as a real new, never used one, when it arrived here. I do know though which was the last movie I played with my PS3 and the defective logic board.
Thanx and Cheers
Sorry I never got back to you. I am actually looking to remarry another logic board and found our conversation while digging through the forums. So to access your dev_flash files you need to have a file manager. As far as I know you need CFW to do this. Pressing select start in multiman will allow you to access the dev flash files. They will be the folders immediately available along with HDD0, HDD1 ect.
Now from what I remember the loss of blu ray occurs if you downgrade from 3.55 to 3.41 then back up? This is what I did so I think if you go up to 3.41 to copy your dev flash files you will be fine. In fact so long as you have these files you do not need the DRLs if I remember correctly. I am unsure where they are stored to be truthful. I will be looking into this matter more over the next week so I will let you know what I find. If you happen to have looked up the info already any help is welcome since I will be needing it. Thanks.
Oh and when/if you respond to this please quote or mention me so that it will be listed in my notifications. I dont go through the threads as much as I used to. Thanks.
EDIT: Was just told that the DRLs are tied to the logic board...
