Ok...ive never flamed any dev and certainly not him and I understand where all you guys defending him are coming from but this is where I object.
The PS3 scene is a scene. A group of devs who all share a general interest in cracking open a PS3 (a machine once said to be the hardest machine to hack) and creating homebrew on it but most of all...a scene is meant to be "FREELY AVAILABLE". Ya sure you can argue and say "Well they have a choice whether to release there work or not" but a scene is meant to be sharing and working together. The flow of information needs to be kept flowing or else all you resemble is an entity like Sony.
This is NOT...the place to anounce you have done something which will make MANY sceners happy with the results but at the same time proclaim you wont be sharing what you have found out or a method.
Someone said it earlier and I couldnt agree more : THERE ARE PEOPLE AT SONY THAT CAN DECRYPT THE KEYS SO HE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN DO THIS. We knew that all along and seen as though he is not telling us how he did it how is he any different to sony?
"Ya but dude hes just letting us know its doable" - Crap. Of course its doable read the capital letters above. Ive been in the hacking scene for a long time. The ps3 scene not too long I admit. But what Ive seen and learnt is EVERYTHING IS HACKABLE. Its just a matter of time and effort.
He may be smart and a bit more intelligent than most of us but quite frankly what he just did is no different to a scene on a play school playground consisting mainly of 5 year olds and it doesnt take much intelligence to know that what he did is EXTREMELY childish.
He only did this because when a new CFW does come out then he can say "Ya its because of me you losers". If hes scared that Sony will come after him if he releases anything then hes not thinking straight. If CFW was released anonymously tomorrow, who do you think Sony is going to eyeball after this?
Anyways to cap off Im not angry at him because I want CFW and am out of patience (like some of you are by the sounds of things), Im angry because hes not acting like hes part of a scene. Dude, if the feeling of helping the ps3 hacking community is not good enough for you, then stick to your word and leave the scene. If I had the skills that you do I wouldnt think of the ungrateful people and not release stuff...I would do it for the scene...the community...the free flow of information.
I wont be flaming about you anymore or on this topic as Im done giving you exactly what you want....attention.
