Hmm, the only thing I can think of is that with the console on 3.56 OFW, you flas JFW CoreOS to the NOR, then you use the preloader/EGEA/whatever to install JFW dev_flash to the HDD.

The console doesn't work with JFW HDD because you don't have a JFW HDD, you'd have to install firmware properly for that :P

I'll see if I can catch DH on his website's IRC and see what he says.
