1) as you on 3.73 u wont be able to update the ps3 with the same fw . you can in recovery mode which i think when u say service mode . service mode and recovery mode are 2 diffent think . read up the diffence .

2)its corrupting becuse i think your trying to update 3.73 ps3 to cfw

do u have a hardware flasher ?
