Adding more clarity to my situation,

when i plug in the ps3 and start it on after 15 or 30 seconds it will show a message on the screen that the unit is being over heated and it will shut down for safety with red light blinking.

when i ran it with out the heat sink i operate it for about 15 second and touched both GPU and CPU to find out that GPU is till cold ( very cold actually and it was without the top heatsink) while the CPU was hot ( real hot with top heat sink in place).

thats what made me suspect CPU fault.

btw: does the killer fan mod over ride ps3 fan controller ?
