releasing a remake would severely harm any future sales in the series.
lets face it, they can never make one as good as seven and it would show everyone how slack they have been in the current Gen versions of final fantasy.
ff1-vii are awesome. I still have VIII and IX to play through yet but after that they went more and more linear. I don't think they could handle the challenge anymore of an in depth RPG.
the materia system in VII was epic
