I use my ps3 for everything media wise, so it is on almost constantly. THe old ps3s have a problem with over heating. The biggest problem I have had is the blu ray drive failing. (4 of the 5) My 6th is a slim. Luckily I have had no problems with it.

Next time buy them with warranty, normally there is 2 year warranty and the PS3 isn't 12 years old already
