Sort of right as almost all religious leaders do not follow their own 'teachings', but in my opinion religion is a problem because by its nature it makes one party right and everyone else wrong, and then most (note I said most) religions push their followers to influence others with their belief and if they will not bow down they are branded as heretics etc and treated as less than the followers of the 'True' faith.
I'm an Atheist so have no religious faith. I am more than happy to accept anothers faith if it helps them, but when they use it to sanctify their wrong-doings then I have nothing but disgust for them regardless of which faith they claim is 'The One'
The fighting in Ireland is a good example I can use from a personal point as I have lost friends over the years because of it on Both sides of the religious fence.
Religion has been called a meme by some and as far as I can make out that description suits it perfectly as it serves virtually no purpose but to propagate itself to the detriment of the ones who follow it.
Religion is a method of control and it is no coincidence that religious leaders are the ones with the most money and therefore power.
If people as a whole would, or even could, accept that someones faith does not dictate who and what they are (in most normal cases) then most of the fighting would have to stop as the commoner would refuse to fight for a reason which has no value in the world or to humanity.
