I can confirm what player said, I had PS3 that I opened and didnt properly put the ribbon cable so when I tried to update it didnt work, after putting it back it worked again. Im not sure of slims but it would make sense that phats use the same cable, are they same models? Also to buy another cable I recommend you try ebay
